SEL ShalaAn online training programme for educators’ professional development on SELSocial and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults build competencies to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for self and others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. SEL Shala is an all-encompassing programme for educators’ professional development. The intention is to create an immersive experience and a space for deeper self-reflection for educators and educational institutions. The SEL FrameworkApni Shala’s SEL framework is designed upon the CASEL model offered by Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning, USA, keeping the promotive and preventive Mental Health approach at center. More rounds to come in 2021.How does SEL Shala 2020 work?SEL Shala is an 8-day online training programme for anyone who works with children to build a deeper understanding of their own social-emotional competencies, and understand how to integrate SEL into educational and other learning processes.
Through a variety of experiences such as expressive writing, poetry, pair-share protocols, small group discussions, audio-visuals, art, and research, SEL Shala enables participants to dig deeper into social-emotional practices of self, children and the organisations they are part of. They also get to explore resources such as framework documents, research materials, SEL activities, and lesson plans to further bring it into their practice. Content
4 Focus Areas / Theme to choose fromSEL for Self Each educator needs to have learning and growth opportunities. They look within oneself and discovering areas of psycho-social competencies in one self. SEL in Classrooms Educators will learn to integrate simple games and circle time activities into their classrooms. Age-appropriateness and time availability will be taken into consideration. Educator as a Facilitator This programme creates a shift of mindset from educator to facilitator, arising from an active reflection into one’s own practices as teachers. SEL integration Provide holistic SEL opportunities to all children in the school based on the CASEL framework. Who CAN ATTEND?
